Qualifications:

Successful candidates must have:

  • experience operating a side winder
  • ability to open and move customers log booms and bundles
  • be able to feed logs onto jack ladder
  • an understanding of water safety issues
  • be in excellent physical condition
  • have a strong work ethic
  • consistent attendance
  • self-motivated
  • demonstrate effective communication skills with a good grasp of the English language
  • Minimum 2 years experience working on the water

These opportunities all involve Monday to Friday shift work on a two-week shift rotation.

Day shift 7:am – 3:30 pm and Afternoon shift 4:00 pm – 12:30 am.

Quality Control Supervisor – Halo Sawmill

Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Quality Control Supervisor to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for overseeing the quality assurance processes within our manufacturing environment for custom cut logging, ensuring that the cutting and grading meet the highest standards of quality and compliance for our customers. This role requires strong leadership skills, a keen eye for detail, and a solid understanding of grading lumber species.

Detailed Job Duties:

Perform all machine operation verification processes accurately
Perform measurement verifications at each machine center
Document, interpret data and utilize measurement data to drive improvements
Perform wane and face audits at machine centers
Communicate findings to Foreman when lumber is not meeting specifications
Maintain optimizer set up and perform adjustments as required.
Work with the Maintenance and operations teams to troubleshoot and correct processes and machinery to verify accurate lumber manufacturing.
Train operators to identify quality issues and how to perform quality checks associated with their job.
Verify and audit operator quality check process.
Provide daily report of activities and any findings/corrections.
Perform calibrations at machine centers.
Conduct wane inspections to ensure proper edging techniques were used.
Actively participate on team to develop and implement an effective Quality Control Program.
Assist Foreman in developing quality processes in other areas as needed.
Become involved with machine center studies to gain more insight into potential for operational and quality improvements.
Perform all duties in a safe manner
Observe all procedures specified in the job safety analysis
Perform any other duties as assigned

Skills and Experience

Minimum of 3 years’ experience in lumber operations
Excellent performance in current role
CSP Grading B Ticket Certification a must
Understanding of lumber manufacturing processes, sawmill machinery, optimization, and how quality affects metrics.
Ability to communicate effectively with high levels of management, customers, vendors, inspectors, contractors, co-workers.
Must be able to manage multiple and constantly changing priorities.
Must have the ability to reason with individuals on a consistent basis
Basic mathematics skills that allow use of data including basic statistical analysis
Comfortable with basic computer skills with the ability to learn new software applications
Experience using Microsoft Office tools at an intermediate level, preferred, especially Microsoft Excel and Word.
Work well both independently and as part of a team.
High School education or GED equivalent preferred.
Technical training, a plus
Experience commensurate with formalized education may be considered.
Must be prepared to work a two week shift rotation – two weeks days; two weeks afternoons (Mon – Fri; d/s 7am to 3:30pm; a/s 4pm to 12:30am) and have you own transportation (No public transportation nearby)

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $80,000.00-$85,500.00 per year
